Greater Miami Adventist Academy is a pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade school located in an affluent residential neighborhood in Miami. GMAA has a rich history in the community and is known for its athletic, science, computer, and music programs. The school is situated on a beautiful 12-acre campus where it has been since 1989. They offer a Christ-centered learning environment that helps families experience excellence in Seventh-day Adventist education. The Academy has been committed to excellence and innovation, providing a dynamic, well-rounded curriculum that gives students opportunities to develop critical thinking skills as they acquire academic knowledge. Currently, they have 40 full- and part-time teachers, staff, and administrators who provide instruction and guidance to over 350 students. Job Summary:
GMAA is seeking a middle and/or high school math teacher for the upcoming school year. Responsibilities may include teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, and Math for College Readiness. In addition, Algebra and Geometry would have honors components.  The candidate must be a team player, creative, and able to deliver instruction to students using a variety of teaching methods and activities. Applicants for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes that will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. Candidates must have good classroom management skills and be able to deliver instruction to students on the indicated subjects and grade levels using a variety of teaching methods and activities. The teacher may also be responsible for other school duties as may be assigned.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicants must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church members in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification in math is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). Must have a service-oriented attitude, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with students and families of diverse backgrounds. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, as well as proficient instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.

Job Responsibilities:
The teacher will be expected to:
  1. Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference.
  2. Develop and submit weekly lesson plans to the principal as required. Lesson plans are to include Objectives, Procedures and Evaluation for each learning style. Must also demonstrate evidence of lesson/unit planning and preparation that honors individual diversity and builds upon prior knowledge.
  3. Select resources to support the subject matter that is academically and developmentally appropriate for diverse abilities and interests.
  4. Deliver engaging and effective instruction to students, employ a variety of teaching techniques and activities appropriate to student learning styles and subject matter, stimulate critical and creative thinking, and monitor student understanding.
  5. Use a variety of evaluation techniques to provide feedback and communicate progress, providing opportunities for students to learn from mistakes as well as successes.
  6. Utilize appropriate classroom management routines that facilitate student engagement and continuity.
  7. Provide for individual differences through diagnostic and prescriptive teaching.
  8. Communicate challenging expectations that encompass critical and creative thinking as well as problem-solving skills.
  9. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports and is conducive to student learning and development, allowing sufficient time for academic activities.
  10. Utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline.
  11. Systematically involve all students in the instructional process and encourage intellectual risk taking.
  12. Maintain accurate and organized student class records (attendance, grades, etc.) on the school's Student Information System in compliance with administration.
  13. Communicate with parents regularly, keeping them well-informed.
  14. Be willing to grow professionally.
