Job Summary:
WMA is seeking a collaborative leader to be the Vice-Principal for Student Services. They are looking for someone who is detail oriented and has a passion for working with young people. The vice-principal will support the administrative team in creating a safe and supportive environment for all students, helping with the implementation of curriculum, and supporting staff with a variety of initiatives and day-to-day needs. Primary responsibilities include student discipline and overseeing various aspects of student life including, S.A., athletics, clubs, and activities. Other duties will include overseeing attendance and working to improve parental participation at school. Candidates must be flexible and willing to teach a class and/or take on the additional role of being a university admissions counselor. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to contributing and participating in a thriving and active campus life. Candidates for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes which will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. May be responsible for other school duties as assigned by the administration.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
The selected applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and is expected to transfer church membership to the Avon Park SDA Church. Must also have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence of such if employed. North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification (minimum of a bachelor's degree preferred) is required and must be maintained or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification. Successful classroom and administrative experience are required. Must have a service-oriented attitude, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with students and families of diverse backgrounds. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, as well as knowledge of proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.

Job Responsibilities:
The vice principal will be expected to:
  1. Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference.
  2. Review weekly lesson plans submitted by the teachers and ensure that they include objectives, procedures, and evaluation for each learning style. Must also demonstrate knowledge of lesson/unit planning and preparation that honors individual diversity and builds upon prior knowledge and the ability to coach teachers who may still be developing these skills.
  3. Ensure that instructional practices and delivery are academically and developmentally appropriate for diverse abilities and interests.
  4. Use a variety of evaluation techniques to provide feedback and communicate progress, providing opportunities for students to learn from mistakes as well as successes.
  5. Coach and help teachers grow professionally to ensure that appropriate classroom management routines facilitate student engagement and that continuity is utilized.
  6. Supervise, coach, and evaluate teachers.
  7. Help and coach teachers to utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline and respect.
  8. Oversee the school's Student Information System and ensure that accurate records (teacher, student, and class) are kept, organized, and maintained (including attendance, grades, etc.) in compliance with conference and NAD requirements.
  9. Communicate with parents regularly, keeping them well-informed.
  10. Be willing and seek opportunities to grow professionally.
  11. Be responsible for other duties as may be assigned by the school administration.
