Forest Lake Education Center (FLEC) is a large pre-k through eighth-grade school located in Longwood, Florida, just 8 miles from downtown Orlando and very close to Forest Lake Academy.  With an enrollment of nearly 700 students, each grade has multiple teachers and classrooms. FLEC is actively pursuing certification through Marzano High Reliability Schools, has completed Level 1 certification, and is pursuing Level 2 for the 2024-2025 school year. Job Summary:
FLEC is seeking a vice principal for the day-to-day operations and the main supervision of the grades 6-8 teachers. The vice principal works closely with the administrative team fostering an environment that fulfills the mission of FLEC of academic excellence, while nurturing students in their love of God, and service to others. The ideal candidate will be passionate about young people and be willing to grow with FLEC as they grow as a Marzano High Reliability School, with the goal of implementing standards-based education. The main areas of responsibility will be the direct supervision of grades 6-8, physical education, the grades 6-8 elective school program, and grades 6-8 ESS/PowerMath, including supervision and coaching instruction. These responsibilities may vary based on the candidate's strengths. The applicants must demonstrate outstanding management and leadership skills and possesses strong interpersonal skills and relationship building with the ability to maintain positive relationships with students, families, staff, and other stakeholders. They will support the school’s mission statement and model the highest standards of professional and collegial conduct. May be responsible for other school duties as assigned by the administration.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicants must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church members in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification with a minimum of a bachelor's degree is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). Five years of successful classroom and administrative experience are required. Must have a service-oriented attitude, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnic, race, or social-economic backgrounds. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, and motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, as well as knowledge of proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.

Job Responsibilities:
The vice principal will be expected to:
  1. Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference.
  2. Review weekly lesson plans submitted by the teachers and ensure that they include objectives, procedures, and evaluation for each learning style. Must also demonstrate knowledge of lesson/unit planning and preparation that honors individual diversity and builds upon prior knowledge and the ability to coach teachers who may still be developing these skills.
  3. Ensure that instructional practices and delivery are academically and developmentally appropriate for diverse abilities and interests.
  4. Use a variety of evaluation techniques to provide feedback and communicate progress, providing opportunities for students to learn from mistakes as well as successes.
  5. Coach and help teachers grow professionally to ensure that appropriate classroom management routines facilitate student engagement and that continuity is utilized.
  6. Supervise, coach, and evaluate teachers.
  7. Help and coach teachers to utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline and respect.
  8. Oversee the school's Student Information System and ensure that accurate records (teacher, student, and class) are kept, organized, and maintained (including attendance, grades, etc.) in compliance with conference and NAD requirements.
  9. Communicate with parents regularly, keeping them well-informed.
  10. Be willing and seek opportunities to grow professionally.
  11. Be responsible for other duties as may be assigned by the school administration.
