Forest Lake Academy (FLA) is one of the largest Adventist high schools in the North American Division and is located in Apopka, Florida, just eight miles north of Orlando. The school offers grades 9-12 to nearly 450 students and is on the same property as Forest Lake Education Center, a pre-k-8th grade school with nearly 700 students. Numerous AdventHealth Hospitals and the Adventist Health System headquarters as well as all of the attractions in Orlando, including the Disney and Universal theme parks and the beach, are only a short distance away from FLA. Job Summary:
FLA is seeking an experienced and highly motivated educational leader for the position of Vice Principal. The Vice Principal will be a key member of the school’s administrative team, responsible for overseeing various academic and operational areas. The ideal candidate must be a team player, passionate about young people, and willing to work together in managing a holistic program for high schoolers. Applicants for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes which will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. She/He may also be responsible for other duties as may be assigned.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicants must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church members in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). Applicants with a master's degree in educational administration or a related field are preferred. Must have a minimum of five years of successful classroom experience, demonstrated leadership skills, and experience in an administrative or supervisory role. Must have a service-oriented attitude and possess strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices is vital. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional strengths should include organization, attention to detail, self-directed, motivated, and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Absolute confidentiality is required. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.

Job Responsibilities:
The vice principal will be expected to:
  1. Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference
  2. Help to establish and maintain a Christian atmosphere on campus
  3. Supervise and evaluate humanities teachers (English, social studies, world languages, Bible, art, and music), conducting classroom observations and providing constructive feedback to support their professional growth
  4. Organize and lead O3 meetings with teachers to review student data, identify areas of concern, and develop plans for instructional improvement
  5. Plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, collaborating with internal and external resources to provide relevant training and foster a culture of continuous learning
  6. Work closely with the guidance department to coordinate and oversee the summer placement testing process for incoming students
  7. Manage and monitor student attendance policies and procedures, ensuring accurate record-keeping and implementing interventions for attendance issues
  8. Assist the Principal with additional duties as assigned, which may include disciplinary matters, event planning, and other administrative tasks
  9. Utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline
  10. Communicate with parents when necessary, keeping them well-informed
  11. Be willing to grow professionally
