After School Care Director

Job Summary:
The After School Care Director manages programs outside of school hours for children. The individual will develop the structure of the program based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents, manage the program staff and operations, and maintain relationships with the community.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in early childhood education.
  • Previous experience in the educational environment required.
  • Must be First Aid and CPR certified.

Job Responsibilities:
  •  Create, develop, execute, and manage activities that would be classified as after school enrichment programs. Examples of activities would include, but are not limited to, intramural sports, clubs, and tutoring sessions.
  • Instruct and participate in a variety of physical activities aimed at engaging students in fun, recreational, and life-long learning objectives.
  • Provide a healthy snack to all participants within the program guidelines accommodating all dietary restrictions.
  • Supervises children attending the program and promote safety and respect among all participants.
  • Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to support children in managing their behavior.
  • Respond to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child and their families/caregivers.
  • Liaise sensitively with parents on matters concerning their children while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ensure that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all health and safety issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately.
  • Ensure correct procedures are followed for administering first aid.
  • Ensure proper sign in/sign out procedures are followed.
  • Clean and tidy the facility and ensure the safe storage of equipment.
  • Report on a regular basis to program supervisor regarding any needs and/or concerns.
