Job Summary:
The Building Systems Technician will maintain and repair HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems in order to provide guests with safe, and comfortable facilities, according to accepted construction codes.The individual will represent the Camp Kulaqua's Building Maintenance Department and all interactions with guests, staff, and vendors will be conducted in a friendly and professional manner.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • HVAC Certificate is required.
  • Two to three years of experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical trades required.
  • Certificate and license relevant to work experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of acceptable residential AND commercial construction practices;building maintenance systems (emphasis on HVAC, electrical, plumbing); trouble shooting HVAC systems and repairs;low voltage (24V), 1 phase and 3 phase electrical systems;electric, gas, and on demand hot water heaters.
  • Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventist and Camp Kulaqua is necessary.
  • Must be able to take measurements and perform work in a precise manner.  
  • Must be able to clearly communicate (verbal and written) in English with guests, co-workers, and management.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills is preferred.
  • Must work effectively well with others and have the ability to follow both written and verbal directions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs on PVC, Metal, and Copper supply lines (up to 2" pipe).
  • Replace malfunctioning hot water heater parts or entire hot water heater.
  • Reclaim/recharge HVAC systems with proper refrigerant.
  • Relate well to guests, co-workers and management in a Christ-like manner.
  • Take ownership of work and assigned responsibilities.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Develop and maintain materials lists for assigned work orders/projects.
