Job Summary:
The church clerk/secretary is responsible for keeping detailed and accurate church records and must work well with both church members and leadership. In addition, the clerk/secretary will assist the church with administrative responsibilities, including maintaining membership records, preparing official reports, handling correspondence, and supporting board and business meetings through accurate minutes and documentation. The church clerk/secretary should be a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and attend services on a regular basis.

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
  • Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both records and financial data.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Customer service skills with a warm, professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support church leadership. Proficiency with office software and basic accounting systems.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date church membership and administrative records.
  • Record and preserve minutes of board, business, and committee meetings.
  • Handle church correspondence and official documentation.
  • Make deposits, write checks, and process payroll.
  • Manage family billing and accounts receivable.
  • Keep track of departmental and ministry budgets.
  • Approve purchase orders in coordination with church leadership.
  • Submit monthly financial claims/reports (including NSLP, if applicable).
  • Support the pastor and church leadership with scheduling, communication, and administrative needs.
  • Work cooperatively with officers, members, and ministry leaders while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in all records.
