Location:
Camp Kulaqua is a Christian Retreat and Conference Center, as well as dynamic Youth camp, located on 700 plus acres surrounding the Hornsby Spring in High Springs, Florida.

Job Summary:
The main responsibility of the ranger is protecting and supervising outdoor areas, and guests at camp. Strong problem-solving skills are needed. It is expected to make sure that campers and other visitor follow the rules and do not disrupt the natural environment or fellow guests.


Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
  • Upholding the standards and policies of the Florida Conference of SDA and Camp Kulaqua.
  • Understand the 3 ranger shifts: 1st shift 8am-4pm, 2nd Shift 4pm-12am 3rd shift 12am-8am
  • Wearing, maintaining and cleaning work uniforms as well as maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Maintaining a warm, friendly attitude with all guests and employees.
  • Willingness to work in other areas of Camp as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision
  • Available to work weekends/holidays
  • Basic P.A. set up knowledge.
  • Must pass background examination (Included with training).


Job Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assist with group/guest needs.
  • Set up and breakdown of buildings on reservation.
  • Respond quickly, intelligently, decisively and in accordance with established procedures both emergency and accident management procedures.
  • Responsible for utility shut-down and filling out Ranger Checklist.
  • Responsible for camp security.
  • Responsible for safety and security of guests at camp.
  • Responsible to carry out minor maintenance requests.
  • Building fires at outlying camps that may be used.
  • Carry and respond to ranger phone and camp radio.
  • Communicate both verbally and written to Week End Manager.
  • Do rounds throughout camp, fill out ranger check list.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with other employees.
  • Follow established emergency procedures.
  • Fill out appropriate reports.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
  • Attend all in-service trainings.
